Deplorable

It used to be considered despicable

To take candy from a baby

Nowadays the deplorable

Say go ahead and steal the baby

Rip the suckling infant

From the breast of its mother

And while you're at it

Go ahead and steal its sister and its brother 

Delivered into the ICE-y hands

Of a cold bureaucracy 

Whose main unstated objective

Is to strip their victims of their dignity and identity

Straight from the racist playbook

Of past American infamy

Writing a new page

In the book of American racist history

From slave markets to trails of tears

To Japanese American internment camps

Perfected long before Fascism had  even marked its stamp

Shock the conscience and rally the base

It's just two sides of the same coin

No matter how the coin may flip

The battle has already been enjoined

 Divide and conquer the human race

And bring both sides to their new master

If you're looking for a path to hell 

Brother I tell you - you won't get there any faster

We need to heal the hearts of the lost children

Who in their despair and confusion feel their parents have abandoned them 

And purposefully delivered them to the belly of the monster

With all due respect to their unwitting surrogate sponsors

We have to save the souls of those who have traded away their humanity 

Who think greatness lies in the form of mean-spirited cruelty

Whose greatest joy in life is to trig a lib

Who've forgotten the story of Jesus' manger as his crib 

Babies should leave babies alone

Babies belong with their mothers at home

Temptations to sin are sure to come, but woe to the one through whom they come!
